Impregnated timber

No wood is completely immune to deterioration if it is exposed for a long period of time to one or more factors that can cause the wood to decay.

Wood protection involves the removal or control of one or more factors by impregnating approved agents into the wood. Other methods of wood protection such as molecular structure modification and heat treatment can also help to protect wood.

Industrial impregnation is the most effective method of protecting timber. Impregnated timber is treated with antiseptics to protect it from pests, fungus, and prolong the durability of the timber. Impregnated timber is perfect for outdoor use: terraces, gazebos, piers, children’s playgrounds, etc.

The wood can be impregnated by a surface method or by a deep vacuum method. Way
back, in ancient Egypt, exceptionally valuable wood products were impregnated with cedar oil to retain their appearance and quality longer. Resins and hard coal preservatives have been used to impregnate timber for many centuries. Today, the selection of timber preservatives is much wider and ranges from natural oils to specially formulated agents.
